Andrew Jackson VI was born in South Knoxville in 1955. He is the oldest of four children born to Andrew Jackson V and Carolyn Shirley Joan Kirkland Jackson. Andy has a historic genealogy in that he is a direct descendant of President Andrew Jackson.

Andy met his wife, Janet FcFalls in 1986. Janet was also an employee of the Knox County Attorney General's Office until their engagement. They married in 1987. They have two daughters, Rachel and Rebekah and reside in the Solway Community.

The family are members of the Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church where Andy has taught Sunday School and coached soccer. Andy also coaches Rebekah's team in the Karns Jr. Pro Basketball Leaque. He also makes time to deliver furniture to needy families through the community outreach program of area church ministries
